Goddess Fish Promotions currently offers a first chapter edit, a complete edit, or a line-edit of your completed fiction* manuscript. Let us make your story shine!
What is a first chapter edit?
The first chapter of your book is one of the most important parts. We want to make it shine! Our first chapter edit is a one time comprehensive read through of the first chapter of your book (up to 4,000 words) to make sure your have a compelling “opening hook”, and that your reader is grounded in the story immediately and wants to continue turning pages. We will also correct grammar errors and typos, and we will find and point out any major issues with overall content, including plot continuity, voice, point of view, character development, or pace via track changes.
The rate for our first chapter editing service is $50 (maximum of 4,000 words).
What is a complete edit?
A complete edit includes two separate edits of your manuscript.
The first edit will include having us read through the entire manuscript carefully and point out any major issues with overall content, including plot continuity, voice, point of view, character development, pace, as well as major copy-editing issues for grammar, punctuation and spelling via track changes.
Once you make and return changes, we’ll read through your work one last time for a final line edit to make sure the copy is typo free and ready for publishing.
The standard rate for our complete editing service is $0.007/word (approximately $2.50/page).
What is a line-edit?
Line editing includes one comprehensive line-by-line review of the manuscript for the following:
- Typographical errors
- Misspelled words
- Grammatical errors
- Punctuation
- Incorrect word usage (e.g., effect/affect, they’re/their/there)
Please note, a line edit does not include content editing. We won’t be commenting on story points, character issues, or whether your protagonist was wearing a dress in one paragraph and jeans in another, unless it jumps out at us. The line edit is for a polish and shine after content editing has been completed.
The standard rate for our line editing service is $0.003/word (approximately $1.00/page).
We will complete a sample complete edit of 1 – 2 pages (up to 500 words) by request and free of charge so you can see what we can offer. Sample editing requests may be submitted by email to goddessfish@gmail.com with SAMPLE EDIT REQUEST and your manuscript title in the subject.
To submit your manuscript for editing, please complete this form. NOTE: Please read the contract information prior to submitting the request.
IMPORTANT: a deposit of $50 is required prior to us beginning our edit. The balance will be billed when the editing is completed. We will give you a time estimate after you submit your request, but standard lengths are 2 weeks (for shorter manuscripts) up to 6 weeks (for longer manuscripts).
